New Delhi, 09 March (H.S.): E-commerce giant Meesho has received a staggering ₹1,499.73 crore tax demand, inclusive of interest, from the Income Tax Department for Assessment Year 2023-24, prompting the company to announce plans for a robust legal contest.
In a stock exchange filing Monday, Meesho disclosed the March 6 notice under Sections 143(3) and 156 of the Income Tax Act, stemming from upward adjustments to its declared income. The Bengaluru-based platform expressed strong disagreement with the assessment's findings and adjustments.
Meesho cited a similar demand for AY 2022-23, where the Karnataka High Court granted interim relief on April 17, 2025—the matter remains sub-judice. The company asserted ample legal and factual grounds to defend its position, with no material adverse impact expected on finances, operations, or other activities.
