A Karkardooma court granted JNU student Sharjeel Imam 10 days' interim bail (March 20-30) to attend his younger brother's wedding, releasing him on ₹50,000 bail bond with strict conditions: no media interaction, no social media use, no meetings beyond family, and confinement to the wedding venue. Surrender ordered March 30.

Imam sought four weeks citing his ailing mother; court limited relief humanely. Supreme Court rejected his regular bail January 5 alongside Umar Khalid's, affirming their central roles in the 2020 riots conspiracy (UAPA invoked).

Case Background

Arrested August 25, 2020 from Bihar, Delhi Police chargesheet accuses Imam of orchestrating nationwide CAA protests via hate speeches inciting December 2019 violence. Probe alleges Muslim-majority areas were primed with false narratives of citizenship revocation and detention camps.
