New Delhi, 08 March (H.S.): The central government will host a specialized breakout session on “Empowered Care Ecosystem: Training 150,000 Multi-Skilled Caregivers” as part of its post-budget webinar series themed “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas – Fulfilling People’s Aspirations.”
Coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the event will feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on March 9, advancing Union Budget 2026-27 priorities outlined in Paragraph 54. These emphasize fortifying the care infrastructure, expanding geriatric and related services, and developing training aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework—integrating care skills with wellness, yoga, medical devices, and assistive technology operations.
The webinar aims to cultivate a competent workforce for burgeoning domestic demands while harnessing global care economy opportunities.
Institutions such as the National Council for Vocational Education and Training, Sector Skill Councils, Industrial Training Institutes, and National Skill Training Institutes, alongside schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, and Jan Shikshan Sansthan, have already skilled thousands in geriatric caregiving, home health aides, and general duty assistance.
Experts from healthcare institutions, state governments, international organizations, and academia will deliberate on standardizing caregiver qualifications, enhancing trainer capacities, expanding curricula, and boosting apprenticeships.
Outcomes will culminate in the closing session, addressed by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Education, Jayant Chaudhary, outlining measures to align skilling with care economy imperatives.
