New Delhi, 08 March (H.S.): Parliament's Budget Session resumes its second phase Monday, March 9, extending to April 2, with the Lok Sabha immediately tabling a no-confidence motion against Speaker Om Birla, moved by opposition MPs Mohammad Jawed, K. Suresh, and Dr. Mallu Ravi.BJP issued whips for March 9-10, while Congress mandated attendance through March 11.

The motion, backed by 118 signatures from Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, Left parties, and others, alleges Birla's partisan conduct—previously targeting the Secretary General in the first phase.Birla will defend from ruling benches as proceedings, led by the Deputy Speaker (vacant) or panel chairpersons, unfold.

Trinamool Congress (29 MPs) pledged support; passage requires simple majority against NDA's ~290 strength.
