Nagpur, 07 Mar

(HS): A Forest Guard suffered major burn injuries in Hiwri Forest Range in

Manpur of Yavatmal district, while trying to control wildfire. The Forest Guard

Vijay Singanjude (47) was trying to control the fire, but was encircled by rising

flames. He tried to save himself by climbing a tree, but suffered severe burn

injuries before he could be rescued.

According to

preliminary reports, fire was reported in three/four places in Hiwri range

around 3 pm on Saturday. Singanjude with his team tried to control the fire

from spreading during which he suffered burn injuries. The burn injuries are

approximately 60 per cent. He was rushed to Government Medical College and

Hospital in Yavatmal.

Chief

Conservator of Forest Dr Kishor Mankar and Deputy Conservator Dhnanjay Waybhase

rushed to the hospital and with the consent of the family members shifted him

to a special burn ward in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar..
