Kathmandu, Nepal, 07 March (H.S.): Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Ravi Lamichhane secured an unprecedented third victory from Chitwan Constituency-2, amassing 54,402 votes to decisively defeat Nepali Congress rival Meena Kharel, who garnered 14,564 votes—a commanding margin of 39,838.
Kharel trailed significantly, while CPN-UML's Asim Ghimire received 6,992 votes and Nepal Communist Party's Pratap Gurung polled 4,969. Out of 87,028 total votes cast, 2,796 were invalidated.This triumph marks Lamichhane's third consecutive win from the seat, following successes in the 2022 general election and a 2023 by-election after Nepal's Supreme Court invalidated his prior parliamentary membership over dual citizenship allegations.
He relinquished his U.S. green card, reclaimed Nepali citizenship, and reclaimed the constituency in the subsequent poll.
