Siliguri, 05 March (H.S.) : West Bengal Law Minister Moloy Ghatak on Thursday assured that a state-of-the-art court building will be constructed in Siliguri, addressing a long-pending demand of the local legal fraternity.

The minister visited the Siliguri court premises during the day and held a meeting with members of the Bar Association to discuss their concerns and longstanding infrastructural demands. For several years, lawyers in Siliguri have been seeking a modern court complex equipped with improved facilities to ease the growing pressure on the existing infrastructure.

Before interacting with the media, Ghatak met representatives of the Bar Association and listened to their grievances in detail. He said the state government has already constructed new court buildings in several districts and highlighted that the circuit bench building in Jalpaiguri was also developed on the initiative of the state government.

Speaking to reporters, the minister announced plans to construct an approximately ten-storey modern court complex in Siliguri. However, he clarified that prior approval from the Calcutta High Court is mandatory before the construction work can begin.

Ghatak stated that nearly 80 percent of the procedural formalities have already been completed and expressed hope that work would commence soon after the High Court grants its approval.

The announcement has generated optimism among lawyers in Siliguri, who believe that their long-pendingpendingmoloy gh demand for better judicial infrastructure may soon be fulfilled.
