New Delhi, 05 March (H.S.): Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited the Iranian Embassy here on Thursday to express condolences over the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, signing the condolence book and meeting Ambassador Mohammad Fathali to convey the Indian government's sympathies on behalf of New Delhi.

Khamenei was killed on February 28 in a joint US-Israeli airstrike targeting his Tehran residence, as confirmed by Iranian state media and multiple international reports following the coordinated operation.

The Ministry of External Affairs shared photographs of Misri's visit, highlighting India's diplomatic solidarity during this period of national mourning in Iran.Notably, the embassy opened its condolence book today for dignitaries to pay respects, as announced via an X post, with access available on March 5, 6, and 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
