Guwahati, 04 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday strongly criticised the Congress party over its recently announced list of candidates, alleging that it reflects dynastic politics rather than merit-based selection. Chief Minister was talking to media today after attending a program in Barpeta.

Reacting to the list, the Chief Minister remarked that the Congress candidates’ list appears to be a “list of successors,” dominated by sons and daughters of established political leaders. He claimed that the party has once again prioritised family lineage over grassroots workers.

Sarma further stated that there is no element of novelty in the list, asserting that it is driven entirely by “parivarvaad” (dynastic politics). According to him, the names of ordinary party workers who have served the organisation for years are missing from the list.

The Chief Minister alleged that the Congress leadership continues to promote hereditary politics, sidelining dedicated workers and failing to bring in fresh faces to represent the aspirations of the people.------------
