
Guwahati, 04 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday indicated that a formal alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) could be finalized within the day, while also hinting at possible tie-ups with other regional parties ahead of the upcoming elections.
Addressing reporters, the Chief Minister stated that discussions with the AGP are in the final stage and an announcement regarding the alliance is expected soon. He expressed confidence that the partnership would further strengthen the ruling coalition in the state.
Sarma further revealed that there is a possibility of an understanding with the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), adding that talks are also scheduled with the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL). He said the party leadership is holding consultations to ensure a broad-based alliance in the interest of political stability and development.
The Chief Minister maintained that seat-sharing arrangements and other modalities would be worked out through mutual discussions with the alliance partners.-----------
