New Delhi, 31 March (H.S.):

Dismissing opposition allegations, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 aims solely to prevent the misuse of foreign funds in illegal activities.

Addressing reporters at BJP headquarters on Tuesday, Rijiju refuted rumors spread by Kerala’s Left parties and Congress claiming the government seeks to curb religious organizations' activities. He clarified the proposed amendments regulate foreign funding in India exclusively to block diversions threatening national security.

Defense Against Political Propaganda

Rijiju accused Leftist groups and Congress of peddling falsehoods ahead of Kerala Assembly elections, fearing BJP's rising support. Illegal money flows from abroad to undermine national interests; these measures protect security without targeting any religious group, he emphasized.

Introduced in Lok Sabha on March 25 by Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, the Bill promotes transparency in foreign fund usage. It explicitly bars exemptions for forced conversions funded abroad, ensuring accountability.
