New Delhi, 31 March (H.S.):
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta categorically dismissed rumors surrounding the Pink Saheli Card, clarifying that women can undertake unlimited free bus journeys without any hourly or transfer restrictions.
In a video posted on social media platform X on Tuesday, CM Rekha Gupta stated that tapping the Pink Card instantly generates a ticket, enabling seamless travel across multiple buses regardless of frequency or short intervals between rides. She accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of spreading misinformation out of resentment over initiatives like free bicycles for girls.
Tackling Propaganda and Transparency Gains
Rekha Gupta highlighted attempts by political elements to propagate false claims that the card fails during bus transfers, urging women to test it themselves—even tapping into another bus five minutes later works flawlessly. Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses carry about 4.5 million passengers daily, including 2 million women, whose fares were previously subsidized without proper accounting, fostering corruption.
The Pink Saheli Card ensures precise tracking of journeys, allowing direct, corruption-free reimbursements to DTC—eliminating inflated claims and private profiteering. Gupta reassured women that card issuance will continue for three more months, advising against panic or long queues.
