Guwahati, 30 March (HS): Badruddin Ajmal, chief of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has stirred the political atmosphere in Assam with a sharp statement targeting the Chief Minister. He warned that if the “Miya community” is dealt with harshly, they would respond in the same manner.
Speaking to reporters on Monday after attending a programme, Ajmal said that if Himanta Biswa Sarma talks about “breaking the backbone of Miya people,” then he too would respond with similar action against the Chief Minister. He further asserted that any form of intimidation against his community would be met with equal resistance.
Ajmal also alleged a lack of development in the state, claiming that neither proper healthcare facilities nor quality educational institutions have been ensured for the people. He accused the Chief Minister of focusing solely on the “Miya” issue rather than governance and development.
The AIUDF leader added that after losing the elections, the Chief Minister would have little to say on the issue. Ajmal’s remarks have triggered strong reactions across political circles, with both ruling and opposition leaders expected to intensify their war of words, further heating up the election atmosphere in the state.----------
