27 March (HS): On Friday, a group of Officer Trainees from the Indian Railways
Traffic Service (IRTS) undertook a visit to the Operations Control Centre at
Prayagraj (OCC-PRYJ) as part of their comprehensive training module at the
Indian Railways Institute of Transportation Management (IRITIM), Lucknow. This
initiative aimed to equip the future leaders of the Indian Railways with
essential field knowledge, operational expertise, and an understanding of the
business practices employed by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of
India Limited (DFCCIL).
The
training session featured a series of interactive discussions led by Mannu
Prakash Dubey, General Manager of Operations and Business Development for
Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), Akanshu Govil, Sr. DOM (Co), PRYJ,
NCR, Mayank Rana, Sr.DOM(Goods), PRYJ, NCR , Vaibhav Trivedi, DOM (Goods),PRYJ,
NCR, Ankit Agarwal, DCM/PRYJ/NCR and several other key officials. Their
insights into the intricacies of train operations, interchange protocols, and
the overarching framework of DFCCIL provided the trainees with a well-rounded
view of the modern railway landscape. Mannu
Prakash Dubey emphasized the critical role that the OCC plays in ensuring
seamless railway operations.
Understanding
the realities of train operations on the ground is crucial for these trainees.
It is the first step towards fostering a new generation of railway leaders who
can navigate the complexities of railway transport network during the session.
The
trainees were also briefed on the EDFC train operations, which have
significantly transformed freight transport efficiency in the region. With
streamlined procedures and cutting-edge technology, the EDFC has not only
improved delivery times but has also contributed to a marked reduction in
logistical costs. Shashikant Dwivedi, General Manager of Electrical Operations
at PRYJ, noted, the integration of advanced electrical systems within our
operations has paved the way for a greener and more efficient railway, which is
the future we are striving for.
The
session also encapsulated the importance of public relations in railway operations,
highlighted by Shashi Kant Tripathi, Chief Public Relations Officer of North
Central Railway (NCR). Effective communication is key to maintaining a positive
relationship with the public and stakeholders. Our job is to ensure that the
community understands the benefits of our operations and how they contribute to
the larger economy.
In
addition to the core discussions, the trainees engaged in hands-on experiences
that showcased day-to-day operations, providing them with a realistic
perspective on the challenges faced by railway professionals. Prakash Chandra
Tripathi, Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer for Traffic, remarked, this practical
exposure prepares our future officers to tackle real-world scenarios with
confidence and integrity.
The visit
was well-received by the trainees, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity
to learn directly from experienced officers in the field. This experience has
been eye-opening. It has not only deepened their understanding of how railways
operate but has also inspired to contribute positively to our industry in the
years to come.
As the
Indian Railways continues to evolve and adapt to modern demands, initiatives
like these are vital in shaping a workforce that is both knowledgeable and
