Hooghly, 25 March (H.S.):
Train services on the Howrah–Tarakeswar line were disrupted early Wednesday morning, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
According to railway sources, a pantograph fault developed in a down train near Gate No. 13 at Singur, affecting operations on the down line. Due to the technical snag, rail traffic remained disrupted for nearly three hours, with several trains կանգ halted at different stations.
The disruption caused difficulties for daily commuters, including school and college students as well as office-goers. One passenger said he had been waiting at the station for nearly an hour to travel to Konnagar, but no train had arrived. Another commuter stated that he had been at the station since 5:10 am and was unable to travel to Bandel due to the delay.
Railway officials rushed to the spot after receiving information and initiated repair work. Eastern Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Shivram Majhi said the pantograph issue near Singur has been rectified and train services on the down line have resumed.
