Kolkata, 25 March (H.S.): The All India Trinamool Congress has lodged a complaint against senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dilip Ghosh with the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal, alleging that he threatened police personnel during a recent election rally in Kharagpur.

According to the complaint, Ghosh allegedly made violent and intimidating remarks targeting the officer-in-charge of Kharagpur Police Station, as seen in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

There was no immediate reaction from Dilip Ghosh regarding the allegations.

In its complaint, the Trinamool Congress claimed that the remarks violate several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as well as the Model Code of Conduct. The party has urged the Chief Electoral Officer to initiate legal proceedings and restrain Ghosh from making any further threatening or violent statements against police officials deployed in the state.

The party also stated that a separate complaint had been filed against Ghosh on March 16, accusing him of allegedly threatening Trinamool leaders, workers and members of the public in the Kalighat and Chetla areas of Kolkata.

Notably, elections to the 294-member West Bengal Legislative Assembly will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
