
Nagpur, 25 Mar (HS):
Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik has ordered increasing the height of
compound wall of the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada Zoo in Nagpur to prevent
leopards entering into the adjoining residential area. Naik also directed the
authorities to take all log-term measures aimed at safety of the ciotizens in
the area.
The issue was
followed by residents in the area, following repeated sighting of leopard in
the residential area, particularly Dabha region. The Forest Department had
started cleaning bushes and dense vegetation on open plots, installing
high-mast lamps and street lights and regular patrolling.
Naik, however,
announced the measures to prevent leopards entering the residential area in the
Legislative Assembly.
