25 March (HS): International wrestler Jonty Kumar has been honored with the

'Laxman Award'—the highest accolade bestowed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh

in the field of sports. Jonty Kumar currently serves as a CCTC

(Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk) within the Jhansi Division of North Central

Railway. During a grand felicitation ceremony held in Lucknow on March 24, the

Honorable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, presented him

with this prestigious award. As part of this honor, he was presented with a

cash prize and a citation certificate on behalf of the State Government.

Kumar has been conferred with this award in recognition of his outstanding

performance and unparalleled achievements in wrestling at both national and

international levels. Associated with the Hanuman Akhara in Delhi, Jonty has

set numerous records in the field of wrestling to date.

Kumar's major achievements in wrestling include winning the 'Bharat Kesari'

title four times, the 'UP Kesari' title three times, and the 'Bharat Kumar'

title twice. His accolades also comprise two gold medals at the National Games,

two gold medals at the Senior Federation Cup, three gold medals at the Senior

National Wrestling Championship, a gold medal at the Under-23 Senior National

Wrestling Championship, and a gold medal at the Asian Wrestling Championship.

Furthermore, he has represented the country at both the Senior World Wrestling

Championship and the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship. Jonty Kumar has

attained this remarkable stature through consistent hard work and unwavering

dedication. It is noteworthy that he had previously been felicitated by the

Honorable Chief Minister on three separate occasions for winning the 'UP

Kesari' title.

It is a

matter of immense pride for North Central Railway that one of its talented

employees is bringing glory to both the nation and the department through his

achievements on the sports arena. The General Manager of North Central Railway,

Shri Naresh Pal Singh—along with office bearers of the North Central Railway

Sports Association—has extended heartfelt congratulations to Shri Jonty Kumar

on this magnificent achievement and has wished him a bright and successful
