Guwahati, 22 March (HS): Regional party Raijor Dal on Sunday announced its final list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections 2026, naming nominees for several key constituencies across the state.

According to the list approved by the party’s election committee, Pradip Kumar Barua has been fielded from Kaliabor, while party president Akhil Gogoi will contest from Sivasagar. Among other candidates, Abul Miya has been nominated from Gauripur, Abdur Basid Mandal from East Goalpara, Anjan Talukdar from Manas, Azizur Rahman from Dalgaon, Mahbub Mukhtar from Dhing, Alak Nath from Tezpur, Dulal Chandra Barua from Sissiborgaon, Rahul Chettri from Margherita, Dulal Moran from Digboi and Gyanashree Bora from Moriani.

The party stated that the candidate for the Bokakhat constituency will be announced soon.

Party sources said that following discussions with the Congress, Raijor Dal has been allocated 13 constituencies as part of a broader seat-sharing arrangement among opposition parties.

Akhil Gogoi termed the list as final and clarified that candidates whose names were announced earlier but do not feature in this list will be considered dropped. He expressed regret over the changes, stating that the decision was taken in the larger interest of opposition unity to effectively challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies.

The development comes at a time when opposition parties are intensifying efforts to consolidate their strategies ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.---------------
