Bhubaneswar, 22 March (H.S.): Suspended BJD MLA Souvic Biswal on Sunday launched a sharp attack on BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, expressing strong resentment over the alleged humiliation of his father and senior leader Prabhat Biswal.
In a strongly worded statement, Souvic said he could not tolerate any insult to his father under any circumstances. “Even if I have to face bullets, I am ready,” he remarked, underscoring the depth of his reaction.
Reflecting on his political journey, he acknowledged that his entry into the Odisha Legislative Assembly was largely due to his father’s support and influence. Commenting on the disciplinary action taken against him, Souvic stated that he would have preferred expulsion from the party rather than suspension.
He further alleged that five days after his father’s expulsion, he received a call from Naveen Niwas and expected a discussion regarding the issue. However, upon reaching the venue, he found several other MLAs present.
According to Souvic, during the meeting, he was asked to support and vote for Santrupt Mishra after being given ‘Nirmalya’. He claimed he refused to comply, stating that he could not take such a decision without consulting his father. He also asserted that his father had been expelled without any valid reason.
Souvic added that he clearly conveyed his inability to vote in favour of the party under the circumstances. He further said that he should have been suspended on the same day his father was expelled, adding that his current suspension “is not a big matter.”
