21 March (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hailed youngsters

on Saturday for saving themselves and their families from leopard attacks,

calling them an inspiration to society. Adityanath honored heroic youngsters at

the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan here on International Forest Day, according to

authorities. He also recognized forest department employees and social organizations

for their exceptional contributions to forestry and wildlife protection. The

Carbon Credit Project also presented cheques to two recipient farms. According

to an official statement, the chief minister congratulated the youngsters who

defended themselves and their family from leopard attacks, calling them an

inspiration to society. The chief minister recognized Achche Lal (10) of

Bahraich and Tanu Singh (18) of Prayagraj for their gallantry.

On

December 6, 2025, a leopard attacked Lal and his father when they were riding

their bicycles home. He fought back with courage and was able to save himself,

forcing the animal to retreat. Another incidence occurred on January 8, 2026,

when a leopard entered a house in Chhivaiya hamlet of the Jhunsi region. Singh,

who was in a room within the house, safely guided two children out and locked

the leopard inside. This allowed for the animal's safe capture without loss of

life. Adityanath also gave certificates of recognition to forest department

officials, including Pushpendra Singh of Moradabad Forest Division, Sunil Kumar

Gond of Hamirpur, Shivam Kumar of Rampur, and Reena Sharma of Etah, for their

outstanding efforts.

Social

workers Brijendra Pal Singh of Lokbharati and Satyendra Kumar Srivastava of

Helping Hands Seva Sansthan, Jhansi, were also recognized for their efforts to

the forestry industry. Beneficiary farmers Ishwar Chand of Kushinagar and

Sunita of Raebareli received cheques as part of the Carbon Credit Project. Previously,

the chief minister examined an exhibition organized by the forest department.

Arun Kumar Saxena, Minister of State (Independent Charge), and K P Malik,

Minister of State for Forest, were among those in attendance.
