Bhubaneswar, 21 March (H.S.): Senior Congress leader and former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Jaydev Jena has alleged that he received a death threat via WhatsApp on March 9, 2026. The threatening message, sent from an unknown mobile number, warned that he would be killed if he visited Bhubaneswar.

Jena, a former state minister, immediately filed a complaint at the Nandipada Police Station in Keonjhar district on the same day. He has claimed that despite notifying senior authorities—including the Chief Minister, the Director General of Police (DGP), and the Keonjhar Superintendent of Police (SP)—no substantive action has been taken so far.

This is reportedly not the first such incident. Jena had received a similar death threat in 2025, suggesting a possible pattern of intimidation against the senior leader.

During a press conference on Saturday, Jena publicly questioned the inaction of law enforcement and expressed concern over the state of justice in Odisha. “If the police fail to act even on a complaint from a prominent politician like me, how can ordinary citizens expect protection or justice?” he said.

Authorities have yet to comment on the complaint or provide details regarding any investigation into the matter.
