New Delhi, 21 March (H.S.):

The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti will host a high-level conference on March 23 at Dr Ambedkar International Centre to mark World Water Day on March 22 with this years theme centered on Water for Industry.

Minister CR Patil will inaugurate the event at 10 AM with over 700 participants from policymaking academia startups MSMEs and other sectors the ministry said.

The opening session will launch key data-driven water management reports including the Seventh Minor Irrigation Census Second Census of Water Bodies first-ever census on springs and major-medium irrigation projects National Water Data Policy technical publications and a compendium of best practices for industrial water efficiency.

Winners of the Jal Shakti Hackathon will be honored alongside four technical sessions covering sludge management smart technologies climate adaptation data utilization and industry commitments.

The conference aims to inspire industries toward responsible water use culminating in a Joint Industry Declaration reflecting public-private commitment to sustainable water management aligned with SDG 6 for universal safe water and sanitation by 2030.
