Guwahati, 21 March (HS): Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that the BJP is not seeking votes from what he termed as “Bangladeshi Muslims,” while expressing confidence that indigenous Assamese Muslims will support the party.

Addressing the media before participating in a program, the Chief Minister asserted that Assamese Muslims would vote in favour of the BJP, indicating the party’s outreach among indigenous communities in the state.

He further stated that eviction drives against encroachers would continue across Assam, emphasizing that the ongoing actions are part of the government’s policy measures.

Sarma clarified that these eviction operations have no connection with the upcoming elections and should not be viewed through a political lens.----------
