Hyderabad, 20 March (HS): The Telangana government on Friday announced nine major schemes in the 2026-27 Budget focusing on social security, education, healthcare and employment generation. The Budget was presented by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu.

The government announced the Indiramma Family Life Insurance Scheme providing life insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh to 1.15 crore families in the state. An allocation of Rs 4,000 crore has been proposed. The scheme will be implemented from June 2, 2026.

Under the Cheyutha scheme, two lakh new pensions will be sanctioned for eligible beneficiaries. The government allocated Rs 14,861 crore for the scheme.

The government also announced upgradation of selected government institutions into Telangana Public Schools with improved infrastructure and digital learning facilities. An allocation of Rs 500 crore has been made.

A breakfast scheme will be introduced from the 2026-27 academic year for students from pre-primary to intermediate level. The government allocated Rs 800 crore for the scheme.

The midday meal scheme will be extended to government junior colleges with an allocation of Rs 100 crore.

A cashless health protection scheme for government employees, pensioners and their dependents was also announced, covering about 23.51 lakh beneficiaries. The scheme will be implemented through the Rajiv Aarogyasri Trust.

The government also proposed an accident insurance scheme for employees providing compensation in case of accidental death and insurance coverage under different categories. A combined allocation of Rs 1,056 crore has been proposed.

The CM Overseas Employment Programme will also be launched to provide skill training, language support and placement assistance for overseas jobs.

The government also announced a monthly scholarship of Rs 2,000 for trainees undergoing training in ATCs. An allocation of Rs 80 crore has been made for the scheme.
