Mathura, 20
March (HS): President Droupadi Murmu said that a strong and
self-reliant India is possible only when its citizens are healthy.
Cancer is one of the most serious health challenges today. Early detection and
high-quality treatment can play a crucial role in saving a patient's life.
President
Murmu was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the newly constructed
'Nand Kishore Somani Oncology Block' (Cancer Treatment Centre) at the
Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram Hospital in Vrindavan on Friday. Earlier, upon arriving
at Sevashram Hospital, President Murmu was greeted by the Chief Minister of
Uttar Pradesh, Governor Anandiben Patel. Ramakrishna Mission Seva Ashram
Secretary Suprakash Anand and Co-Secretary Kalikrishnananda welcomed her with a
bouquet.
President
Murmu said that a strong and self-reliant India is possible only
when its citizens are healthy. Cancer is one of the most serious health
challenges today. Early detection and high-quality treatment can play a crucial
role in saving a patient's life. She noted that for some families, financial
circumstances make treatment difficult or nearly impossible. At such a time,
organizations working with a spirit of public service can play an active role
in social welfare.
The
President said that special emphasis is being placed on cancer prevention and
its effective treatment through awareness campaigns and timely screening.
Today, India is continuously striving to strengthen its healthcare
infrastructure and ensure that quality medical care is accessible to every
citizen. Murmu said that through landmark schemes like Ayushman Bharat,
affordable and high-quality healthcare is being provided to millions of
citizens. Cancer treatment is also covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme,
benefiting poor and needy patients. She said that new AIIMS and medical
colleges are being established across the country, making healthcare more
accessible to people living in rural and remote areas.
The
President noted that under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, healthcare
services are being integrated with technology, increasing transparency and
efficiency. Through telemedicine and e-health services, people can now consult
with expert doctors from the comfort of their homes. Murmu said that medical
institutions, driven by a spirit of service, play a vital role in society. They
not only treat diseases but also instill hope, confidence, and dignity in the
lives of patients and their families. She said that the Ramakrishna Mission has
proven that the combination of modern science and human compassion can do
extraordinary things for the welfare of humanity. I congratulate this
institution for this important contribution. Today, we are not only
inaugurating a building, but we are opening a new door of hope for all patients
who come here seeking high-quality medical care. It is noteworthy that
President Draupadi Murmu is currently in Uttar Pradesh on a three-day visit. On
the second day of her visit, she participated in various programs in
Mathura-Vrindavan.
