Bhubaneswar, 20 March (H.S.): In a significant anti-corruption action, the Confiscation Court (Authorised Officer, Special Court, Vigilance) in Bhubaneswar has ordered the confiscation of disproportionate assets worth ₹1,27,39,985 belonging to Prafulla Kumar Panigrahi, a former Executive Engineer of the Jonk Canal Irrigation Division in Nuapada.

The confiscated assets include immovable properties such as a multi-storeyed residential building located at Tulasi Nagar in Berhampur, along with three plots (Nos. 252/4134, 247/4133, and 246/4132) situated at Rajendra Nagar Sahi in the same locality of Ganjam district.

Panigrahi had earlier been charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Following due trial, he was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar, on March 31, 2014.
