Guwahati, 20 March (HS): In a significant political development ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Friday announced a formal alliance. Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi projected Gaurav Gogoi as the Chief Ministerial face.

Addressing the media, Gaurav Gogoi described Akhil Gogoi as the “main commander” of the prospective alliance-led government, underlining his leadership role in shaping the coalition’s future. He said the alliance aims to present a united front to challenge the ruling establishment in the upcoming polls.
