
Guwahati, 19 March (HS): A total of seven candidates filed 10 nomination papers on Thursday for the upcoming General Election to the Assam Legislative Assembly, 2026, covering seven constituencies out of the state’s 126 Assembly seats.
According to the official information, multiple nomination papers were submitted in a few constituencies. Candidates from Rupahihat, Jorhat and Bokakhat filed two nomination papers each, taking the total number of papers filed to 10.
The nominations were filed across Mandia, Kamalpur, Rupahihat, Jorhat, Bokakhat, Diphu (ST) and Karimganj South constituencies. Mandia and Kamalpur recorded one nomination each, while Diphu (ST) and Karimganj South also saw one nomination apiece.
The nomination process is part of the ongoing preparations for the Assembly elections scheduled in the state, with more candidates expected to file their papers in the coming days.---------
