
New Delhi, 13 March (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday to assess the deteriorating situation in West Asia, focusing on regional security, rising conflicts, and their potential global ramifications.
In a post on X, PM Modi conveyed India's profound worry over escalating violence, civilian casualties, and infrastructure damage in the region. He stressed that safeguarding Indian nationals abroad remains the government's top priority amid these volatile circumstances.
PM Modi underscored the critical need for uninterrupted goods and energy flows to India, warning that disruptions in supply chains or trade routes would impair not only India's economy but also regional stability.
The Prime Minister appealed to all parties to exercise restraint, asserting that the crisis demands resolution through dialogue and diplomacy alone. He emphasized de-escalation and constructive engagement to avert further deterioration.
India and Iran share deep cultural, historical, and economic bonds, with energy cooperation as a cornerstone. The Chabahar Port project serves as a vital strategic conduit for India to Central Asia and Afghanistan.
