12 Mar (HS): Prof Dr Bimlendra Kumar, former Head of Pali and Bouddha Studies

Department of Benaras Hindu University has been elected chairman of All India

Pali Literary Meet to be held in Pue on March 22. The literary meet has been

organised jointly by the Department of Pali and Bouddha Studies Department of

Savitrabai Phule Pune University, Padmarani Foundation, and Classical Language

Research and Training Institute.

Dr Bimlendra

Kumar is a scholar in Pali literature and Buddhist Philosophy. A keen

researcher in Pali literature, he authored 19 books and more than 125 research

papers at national and international levels. More than 35 researchers were

guided by him for doctoral degree (PhD).

Dr

Kumar has served for a longer period at BHU and also was a professor at Delhi

University and Vishvabharati University (Shantiniketan). Recently he has been

appointed the first professor of Dr B R Ambedkar Chair by ICCR at Lumbini

Bouddha University, Nepal.
