Malda, 01 March (H.S.):

Despite strict security measures during the School Service Commission (SSC) Group C exam, a case of violation of rules has come to light. Two candidates who had arrived to take the exam were arrested after being found with mobile phones. Both accused are residents of Malda district.

The two youths had arrived to take the exam in Bankura on Sunday. As per information, shortly after the exam began at the Vishnupur Ramanand College examination center, invigilators became suspicious of their activities. Upon a second search, mobile phones were recovered from them. They were then handed over to Vishnupur police station.

Notably, the SSC had issued strict guidelines to ensure a transparent and smooth conduct of the Group C exam. Candidates were prohibited from wearing shoes that covered their feet, and entry into the examination center was only permitted after a thorough metal detector check. Despite this, the two candidates took the exam with mobile phones. It was reported that they were taking the exam in separate rooms of the college.

Arunabh Bandyopadhyay, the nodal observer for Vishnupur division of the SSC Group C exam, said that the two candidates intended to disrupt the fairness of the exam, but the vigilance of the examiners prevented them from achieving their goals. He urged the police to take strict action against the accused.
