Guwahati, 01 March (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday attended the ‘Louhpurush Rashtriy Ekatmakta Puraskar’ award distribution ceremony organised by Bharat Bharati at Lohia Lines Guwahati Auditorium in the city.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor described the event as a celebration of unity, national spirit and collective resolve. Congratulating the award recipients, he said that honours conferred in the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel serve as a reminder of his unparalleled contribution to India’s unity and integrity. He noted that at a time when the country was facing the challenge of political fragmentation after Independence, Patel’s courage, foresight and firm resolve enabled the integration of over 500 princely states, laying the foundation of a strong and united India.

The Governor observed that unity is not merely the merging of geographical boundaries but a harmony of minds that transcends differences of language, religion, culture and region. He stated that India’s enduring strength lies in its tradition of “unity in diversity,” rooted in ideals such as “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” and “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which promote an inclusive and compassionate national outlook.

Referring to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that building a developed India requires balancing development with heritage. He added that Assam continues to make steady progress across sectors, with significant contributions from social organisations and dedicated citizens.

Describing public service as a noble mission, the Governor urged the youth to adopt service, sensitivity and social responsibility as guiding principles in life. He also appreciated Bharat Bharati’s efforts in promoting national integration, cultural harmony and patriotic values.

Among those present at the programme were National President Vinay Patrale, National Secretary Rudra Narayan Tiwari, Trust President Subhash Dhawan, Eshan Bharati President Bhaskar Dutta Goswami and Convenor Shobhan Vyas, along with other dignitaries.---------
