(HS): Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing hosted a grand dual celebration
today, marking the 32nd Batch of GNM Graduation and the 36th
Batch of Lamp Lighting for Preliminary Training School (PTS) students. The
event was a solemn tribute to the nursing profession, themed around the
Flame of Knowledge and the Light of Compassion. The
ceremony was presided over by Most Rev. Louis Mascarenhas, Bishop of the
Diocese of Allahabad, with Mudit Chandra (IRPS), Principal Chief Personnel
Officer of North Central Railway, serving as the Chief Guest. Ayushi Bhatnagar
graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Rev. Fr. Vipin D’Souza the director
of Nazareth Hospital congratulated.
In his address, Chief Guest Mudit Chandra—an
alumnus of MNNIT Prayagraj known for his
leadership of 70,000 employees and his critical role as a Nodal Officer during
the COVID-19 pandemic—encouraged the graduates to uphold the highest standards
of public service. Bishop Mascarenhas offered his blessings, advising the new
nurses to serve humanity with a heart of gold as they step into their
professional lives.
The highlight of the afternoon was the distribution
of certificates and prestigious awards to meritorious students. Excellence
Award was presented to Sr. Monica Lobo for her outstanding academic consistency
and dedication. And the Outstanding Student Awards were conferred upon Ms. Eli
Minj and Annu for demonstrating an exceptional balance of clinical skill,
leadership, and character throughout their journey at Nazareth.
The ceremony included the traditional Lamp
Lighting, where 39 budding nurses of the 36th batch received lighted
lamps from Guest of Honour Ayushi Bhatnagar. This was followed by the Oath
Taking Ceremony, led by Principal Rev. Sr. Alweena, where students pledged to
follow in the footsteps of Florence Nightingale. The graduates too with lighted
lamps took oath of service to the sick.
A special tribute was paid to the parents and
relatives of the PTS and graduate nurses. Recognizing their immense sacrifices,
the institution hosted a festive meal for the families in the auditorium to
celebrate their children's success. The event concluded with a vibrant cultural
program featuring Bollywood and Telugu dance performances, Love Dance in
Konkani by the visually impaired students of Divya Jyoti Niketan followed by
the National Anthem.
