Kathmandu, 09 February (H.S.): Nepal extended a heartfelt invitation to global tourists from Mumbai's prestigious platform, actively participating in Asia's leading travel trade fair, Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) Mumbai 2026, to promote its diverse tourism offerings.

The Nepal Tourism Board effectively marketed its varied products at the Jio World Convention Centre event, spotlighting India as its prime source market through robust promotional efforts. The Nepal Pavilion featured 34 leading Nepali tourism firms presenting luxury resorts, adventure tourism, spiritual destinations, wellness experiences, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions), and destination management services to Indian and international buyers.

Regarded as India's gateway to the largest outbound travel market, OTM Mumbai—running for three decades—has shaped Asian tourism trends and forged multimillion-dollar partnerships. Nepal's consistent participation over 25 years has transformed it from a pilgrimage and trekking hub into a multifaceted luxury, adventure, and business tourism destination, with its pavilion consistently captivating Indian operators through cultural authenticity, vibrant displays, and award-winning presentations.

Following last September's Jenji movement disruptions, Nepal's tourism sector demonstrated remarkable resilience and swift recovery, with all major destinations, trekking routes, adventure activities, and heritage sites fully operational. Indian arrivals surged nearly 30% in January 2026 compared to the prior year.

Nepal Tourism Board CEO Deepak Raj Joshi affirmed: The Jenji movement caused setbacks, but we've rebounded rapidly—Nepal stands ready to warmly welcome guests worldwide. He highlighted the 34 companies' presence as testament to commitment toward India, positioning Nepal as a safe, stable, and unique destination.

Open borders, seamless road and air connectivity, stable currency exchange, and digital payments have eased Nepali travel for Indians, who comprise 40-50% of total international arrivals. In 2025, Nepal welcomed over 293,000 Indian tourists via air routes.Tailored Offerings for IndiansOTM 2026 emphasized religious tourism (Pashupatinath, Janakpur, Muktinath, Lumbini), weekend getaways, luxury and wellness retreats, adventure pursuits, MICE, weddings, and honeymoons—strategically branding Nepal's sacred sites alongside Pokhara, Chitwan, and Himalayan thrills for the Indian market.

Through OTM Mumbai 2026, Nepal issued its global call from Indian shores, pledging sustained emphasis on quality, sustainable, and experiential tourism development centered on India.
