
Merengipara (Meghalaya), 07 February (HS): Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday laid the foundation stone of a 10-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Merengipara in South West Garo Hills district. The hospital will be established under the National AYUSH Mission.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A. Sangma, Salmanpara MLA Ian Botham M. Sangma, along with senior administrative officials and local dignitaries. Describing the project as a significant achievement for the region, the Chief Minister said the state government remains committed to strengthening healthcare services in remote and border areas.
He informed that the project, approved for the financial year 2025–26, will be developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 7 crore. The hospital will create 35 new posts, including AYUSH doctors, nurses and yoga instructors. Facilities such as inpatient care, de-addiction services, youth wellness and holistic treatment will be given special emphasis.
The Chief Minister stated that the hospital would benefit not only Merengipara but also surrounding areas, and urged local residents to actively cooperate for its effective utilisation.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Anendya Rajshri termed the project a milestone for the district. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.---------
