Salem-based music composer wins award at Singapore Lion International Film Festival


Chennai, 06 February (H.S.) : V Vishwanth, a 23-year-old music composer from Salem, has won the prestigious Best Background Score award at the Singapore Lion International Film Festival (Season 3). The young artist, popularly known as Vishv in musical circles, received this international recognition for his work on the short film Betting Duniya.

The film, produced by James Muni, focuses on raising awareness about the significant dangers associated with betting and gambling. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as the festival received over 10,000 entries from across the globe, making his victory a significant milestone for local talent on a global stage.

The composer managed to complete the entire score for the film in just seven days, balancing his creative work with his academic responsibilities. At the time, Vishv was attending morning college classes and writing examinations while dedicating his lunch breaks and nights to composing the background music.

He is currently pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science and Business Systems at K S Rangasamy College of Technology in Tiruchengode. His academic journey began at Jairam Higher Secondary School in Salem. Coming from a modest background, his father, Venkatanarasimman, serves at a temple, while his mother, Girija, works as a librarian at a private college.

Expressing his gratitude, Vishv credited actor and producer James Muni for entrusting him with the opportunity and the entire film team for their belief in his talent. He stated that this international recognition has deeply motivated him to pursue his long-term dream of composing music for mainstream cinema.

The Singapore Lion International Film Festival is known for supporting independent filmmakers and artists from diverse backgrounds. For Vishv, this award strengthens his resolve to use sound as a medium to tell powerful and impactful stories.
