Chennai, 06 February (H.S.) : In a tragic incident reported from Mugappair West, a 27-year-old mechanical engineer was arrested by the Nolambur police for allegedly murdering his mother after she repeatedly pressured him to find employment. The deceased has been identified as 56-year-old Auxilia, who resided in a rented house on Kalamegham Salai with her son, Nikhil Britto.

According to police sources, Nikhil had recently resigned from a private software firm in Bengaluru and was staying at home. The mother, who was reportedly dealing with health issues, had been constantly urging him to secure a new job, which led to frequent arguments between the two.

The crime came to light when Nikhil sent a mobile message to a friend confessing to the act. His friend immediately rushed to the spot and alerted the authorities. Upon arrival, the Nolambur police team apprehended Nikhil as he was attempting to flee the premises. Inside the residence, officers discovered the body of the victim with multiple stab wounds.

During the subsequent interrogation, the accused confessed to using a mobile phone charger wire and a knife to commit the murder. The police have seized the weapons and his mobile phone as evidence. Following a complaint from the house owner, Samathanadurai, a case was registered, and the body was moved to the KMC Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The accused was produced before a local court on Thursday and has since been remanded to judicial custody for further investigation.
