Guwahati, 05 February (HS): Indian Railways has decided to operate Holi Special Trains to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Holi festival. As done every year, these special services are being planned to provide additional travel options, enhance passenger convenience and ensure smooth and comfortable journeys during the festive season, when demand peaks across major routes.
Indian Railways has planned a total of 1,410 Holi special trains across the country, with provisions to introduce more services if required, in order to effectively cater to the festive rush and ensure seamless travel for passengers.
In line with this initiative, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will also operate Holi Special Trains to meet the increased travel demand in the Northeast region. These services are aimed at connecting key destinations and easing congestion on regular trains, enabling passengers to celebrate the festival of colours with their families in a safe, convenient and timely manner.
According to NFR, a few weekly Holi Special Trains are being planned to originate from Assam (Narangi), West Bengal (New Jalpaiguri) and Bihar (Katihar and Kishanganj). These trains will enhance connectivity to important destinations in North India, including Gorakhpur, Amritsar and other key locations, ensuring smooth and hassle-free journeys during the Holi festival period.
With these proactive measures, Indian Railways and the Northeast Frontier Railway have reaffirmed their commitment to passenger-centric services and seamless mobility during peak travel periods. Passengers have been advised to stay updated through official railway channels for detailed information on routes, schedules and booking availability of Holi Special Trains.
