Guwahati, 05 February (HS): The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Thursday launched the “Mati Bachao, Jati Bachao” and “Samay Paribartanor” yatra after offering prayers at Maa Kamakhya, intensifying its attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over alleged corruption and land irregularities.

On the first day, Congress leaders claimed to have exposed before the public several land and property holdings allegedly linked to the Chief Minister’s family, including the Bandya International School at Amingaon. Ten special LED vehicles were flagged off from Rajiv Bhawan as part of the Sankalp Yatra, which will cover districts across Assam.

The yatra also paid tribute at Zubeen Khetra in Sonapur, where APCC president Gaurav Gogoi demanded early justice for singer Zubeen Garg. Congress workers staged protests in front of News Live, a McDonald’s outlet allegedly linked to the CM’s family and Minister Ashok Singhal’s Protech Park.

In Jalukbari, the Chief Minister’s home constituency, slogans such as “Dexotkoi Mami Dangor Nohoy” and “Land Predator, Beware” echoed as the Congress accused the BJP government of misrule and misuse of power.-----------
