Jammu, 26 February (H.S.): A 27-year-old man died after being crushed by a train at Vijaypur Railway Station in Samba district today.

The deceased has been identified as Sumit Athwal, son of Somraj Athwal, resident of Gandhi Nagar, Valmiki Colony, Jammu.

According to reports, he lost balance while alighting from the Archana Express, which was on its way from Patna to Jammu, and came under the train.

On receiving information, the Railway Police reached the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem. After completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for last rites. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
