Guwahati, 23 February (HS): Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced an increase in the state subsidy for orthodox tea from ₹10 to ₹15 per kilogram, describing it as a major boost for tea entrepreneurs.
The Chief Minister said in his social media post that following the record production and export of Assam tea this year, the government has decided to enhance financial support to the tea industry. He stated that the subsidy hike is aimed at strengthening orthodox tea production and improving the overall performance of the sector.
Sarma expressed confidence that the decision would bring significant relief and encouragement not only to tea garden owners and entrepreneurs but also to tea workers across the state.----------
