New Delhi, 22 February (H.S.): The Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) has warmly welcomed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s decision to extend support to visually impaired cricket.Among the DCCI's founding members, the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) stands to benefit from the BCCI's newly announced support framework. Under this initiative, assistance will be provided for international exposure, the organization of domestic series, and the assured availability of stadiums.
The BCCI has stated that this endeavor underscores the paramount importance of inclusive cricket for all. Advocacy for this cause was championed by Jay Shah during his tenure as BCCI Secretary, and he has continued to support it in his role as Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
DCCI officials have also commended this step, asserting that it fortifies opportunities and professional pathways for visually impaired cricketers. DCCI General Secretary Ravi Kant Chauhan remarked on Sunday that Jay Shah embodies a vision, a conviction, and a transformative force.
When leadership transcends positional authority and is driven by purpose, history is made. His vision has consistently demonstrated that clear direction and resolute intent can usher profound change in sports.
DCCI Vice President Sumit Jain observed that a vast difference exists between merely performing tasks and elevating them to new heights. Under his leadership, Indian cricket—particularly women's cricket—has witnessed remarkable progress. This transformation is evident not only in statistics but also in the heightened confidence and expanded opportunities for players.
Joint Secretary Abhay Pratap Singh emphasized that extending support to visually impaired cricket and establishing a robust framework reveals a vision that extends far beyond the sport itself. It reaches every talented athlete who merely requires a platform. This decision is tantamount to steering thousands of dreams toward realization.
