New Delhi, 21 February (H.S.):
The Global Pravasi Kabaddi League (GPKL) confirmed on Saturday the participation of international players from Europe, Africa, and Asia in Season 2, marking a pivotal evolution from its inaugural GIPKL edition toward a structured global platform.
Building on its foundational season, GPKL Season 2 anticipates male and female athletes from Europe—including England, Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Germany—alongside African representation from Tanzania, Kenya, and Cameroon, regions witnessing steady grassroots kabaddi growth.
Asian involvement surges with players from Hong Kong and Taiwan, bridging India's kabaddi stronghold with the sport's burgeoning international ecosystem.
Organizers emphasized in a statement that dual-gender participation underscores GPKL's commitment to inclusive development and worldwide engagement, fostering structured competition, coaching, and interactions with seasoned Indian raiders and defenders. This cross-continental influx reflects kabaddi's rising appeal beyond traditional nations, amplifying competitive platforms' role in the sport's worldwide expansion and institutional maturity.
