New Delhi, 21 February (H.S.):
Four Youth Congress workers arrested for staging a provocative demonstration at the AI Summit in Bharat Mandapam appeared before Patiala House Court on Saturday, as Delhi Police sought five days' custody to probe the incident.
The activists—Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Ajay Kumar, and Narasimha Yadav—were apprehended on Friday afternoon, February 20, 2026, inside Exhibition Hall No. 5 at Pragati Maidan’s Bharat Mandapam during the India AI Impact Summit.
Police reported a scuffle preceding the arrests, resulting in injuries to three officers, with the protesters invoking charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita including criminal conspiracy, assault on public servants, unlawful assembly, and disobedience.
Initially planning to infiltrate using black umbrellas and printed stickers, the group altered tactics upon detection, donning T-shirts emblazoned with images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump alongside slogans like India-US Trade Deal, Epstein Files, and PM is Compromised, concealed under sweaters and jackets.
Inside the hall, they removed outer layers, waved the T-shirts aloft, and created a commotion to highlight alleged compromises in national interests.
Police InvestigationDelhi Police is investigating the conspiracy's orchestration, tracing the source of printed T-shirts and stickers, while reviewing over 15 video footages to identify additional participants; raids continue to apprehend others, including questioning IYC President Uday Bhanu Chib.
The Indian Youth Congress defended the action, asserting it targeted the Prime Minister for tarnishing India's global image through anti-farmer trade deals and youth unemployment amid hate politics, claiming limited protest avenues due to media curbs and street restrictions.
