Guwahati/Cachar (Assam), 20 February (HS): Amit Shah on Friday asserted that every infiltrator entering India through the border would be sent back, issuing a strong warning during his visit to the India-Bangladesh border in Cachar district.
Addressing a gathering near the international border, the Union Home Minister said the BJP government is committed to safeguarding Assam and strengthening national security. He alleged that during the Congress regime, the doors were kept open for illegal infiltrators, but the BJP not only stopped infiltration but also freed several lakh bighas of land from illegal encroachment.
Shah maintained that with the resolve to make Assam secure and developed, the BJP would form the government in the state for the third consecutive term.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged people to take a pledge that no indigenous Sanatani should sell their land to unknown persons. He stated that around 1.5 lakh bighas of land have already been cleared of encroachment and assured that if the BJP returns to power, eviction would be carried out on 5 lakh bighas of land in the next term.-----------
