Tinsukia (Assam), 19 February (HS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin on Thursday visited Barekuri in Assam’s Tinsukia district, where he offered prayers at the historic Bor Namghar. He later paid tribute at the memorial of Matak kingdom ruler Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha.
At Bor Namghar in Barekuri, Nabin sought blessings and interacted with members of the local community. He was accorded a traditional welcome by the Namghar’s Gayan-Bayan group, whose devotional performances created a spiritually charged atmosphere. Women devotees also formally blessed the BJP national president during the visit.
Subsequently, Nabin proceeded to Guijan in Tinsukia to pay homage at the maidam (memorial) of Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha. The visit reflected the party’s outreach and its engagement with Assam’s rich cultural and historical heritage, particularly that of the Matak kingdom.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, along with local legislators and several senior leaders and workers of the Assam BJP, were present on the occasion.
It may be noted that Nabin arrived in Dibrugarh on Wednesday on a two-day visit to Assam, where he received a grand welcome. During the visit, he addressed a gathering of BJP Panna Pramukhs and called for further strengthening the party’s booth-level organization.------------
