17 Feb (HS): With the aim of making Uttar Pradesh the leading skill hub of the
country, the two-day regional workshop and pre-EC meeting organized under
DDU-GKY 2.0 and RSETI 2.0 concluded successfully at Hotel Centrum in Lucknow on
Tuesday. In the closing session, State Minister of Vocational Education, Skill
Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Agarwal said
that the government's goal is not limited to training only, but to provide employment
opportunities to the last person. Reiterating the resolve of Antyodaya, he said
that the government's priority is to make rural and deprived youth self-reliant
by equipping them with modern skills.
The
Minister stated that under DDU-GKY 1.0, 2.62 lakh youth in the state were
trained, of which approximately 2 lakh youth were provided employment. Based on
this success, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has requested a
target from the Central Government to provide skills training to 4.5 lakh youth
in the coming years. He stated that special provisions have been made for skill
development in the 2026-27 budget, focusing on rural youth, Scheduled Castes
and Scheduled Tribes, and disadvantaged communities, to ensure inclusive
development.
Principal
Secretary Dr. Hariom stated that collaborative dialogue between states in the
area of skill development is essential for the overall development of the
country. In the closing session, representatives from Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh,
Uttarakhand, Punjab, Bihar, and Jharkhand were honored for their outstanding
contributions.
During
the workshop, Mission Director Pulkit Khare gave a detailed presentation on
Uttar Pradesh's skill development model, highlighting industry demand-driven
training, digital monitoring, and job linking as key pillars. He detailed the
real-time monitoring and transparency of training centers through digital
platforms like the Skill Drishti app and the Skill
Disha portal. He also highlighted the success of block-level job fairs, highlighting
the success of which millions of youth in the state have been directly
connected to the mainstream employment landscape by providing them with
appointment letters.
Raj
Priya Singh, Director (Skills), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of
India, Syed Sajjad Qadri, Mission Director, Ladakh, and senior officials from
various states were present at the event. Additional Mission Director Priya
Singh expressed her gratitude to all participants.
