17 Feb (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has constantly
praised former Bihar Chief Minister and Bharat Ratna laureate Karpoori Thakur
as a master of social justice and a symbol of hope for the
oppressed. Yogi hailed the Centre's decision to award Thakur the Bharat Ratna,
emphasizing his lifelong dedication to helping disadvantaged communities,
farmers, and poor children.
Yogi
characterizes Thakur as a Jan Nayak (people's leader) whose fight
for equality and democratic principles continues to inspire. Yogi hailed the
federal government's decision to give Thakur the Bharat Ratna (posthumously) in
January 2024, describing it as a worthy homage to his commitment to the
exploited and ignored. Yogi has complimented Thakur's programs, particularly
his campaign for land rights and impoverished people's access to education. Yogi
frequently pays respect to Thakur on his birthdays and death anniversaries,
highlighting his clean image and continuous commitment to social development.
