Malda, 15 February (H.S.): Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, a political controversy has intensified in Malda district. The ruling Trinamool Congress has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is importing a large number of bikes from Bihar ahead of the elections, an alleged conspiracy behind it. Trinamool claims that these bikes are being used to create unrest during the elections.
On Sunday morning, several bikes with Bihar registration plates were seen parked in front of the Malda district BJP office. Trinamool Congress raised questions about this, stating that importing bikes from another state before the elections is suspicious. Malda district Trinamool Congress president Rahim Bakshi alleged, Seven to eight lorries of bikes are being brought from Bihar with the intention of creating chaos during the elections. Meanwhile, Trinamool district spokesperson Shubhamoy Bose said that the entire matter has been brought to the district administration's attention and that the BJP is deliberately trying to disrupt the atmosphere.
The BJP leadership has categorically rejected these allegations, calling the Trinamool Congress's claims baseless and imaginary. Malda BJP Organizational District President Ajay Gangopadhyay stated that these bikes were arranged for the movement and campaigning of party workers during the elections. He clarified that this is nothing new and was done in previous elections as well.
The BJP claimed that a total of 14 bikes have arrived this time, all of which have valid documents. Ajay Gangopadhyay said, The elections in Bihar are over. Now there are assembly elections in West Bengal. These bikes are needed by workers to reach the polling booths and monitor them. They first came to Siliguri, then reached Malda, and will be sent to other districts, including Kolkata. After the elections in Bengal are over, they will be sent to other locations.
The political temperature in Malda has risen over this issue. While Trinamool is calling it a conspiracy before the elections, BJP is calling it organizational preparation and denying any kind of irregularity.
